Aalto Marketing Society
The Association of Marketing Students at Aalto University
Aalto Marketing Society (or AMS in short) is the association of marketing students at Aalto University School of Business in Finland. We represent all students who study marketing as their major both on bachelor's and master's levels as well as people who are just genuinely interested in all things related to marketing. As the name suggests, we are an ecosystem of marketing enthusiasts: AMS brings together students, alumni, companies and faculty members.
Annually we arrange dozens of events ranging from company case competitions, career evenings and training workshops to afterwork sessions, parties and study trips. AMS represents marketing students in various student bodies and other organizations. We are closely associated to the Aalto University Student Union and Aalto University Business Students. As the voice of the marketing students, we participate actively in developing and improving the marketing studies at Aalto University School of Business.
Currently we have around 300 student members, mostly people who study marketing as a major. However, we accept members from every field of study in Aalto University. We participate actively in building united Aalto community and drive multidisciplinary networking and learning. AMS is run completely by volunteers consisting of students from all stages of their studies.
Our mission is to increase the appreciation of marketing both in the Finnish society and in the business in general.
We are an active, friendly and open community of both future marketing professionals and people who are interested in marketing. Read more about what we do below!
Aalto Marketing Society is an active player in the Aalto University community. We help marketing students and alumni getting to know each other, make companies and students meet, take care of student advocacy within the Aalto Department of Marketing and contribute to different boards and organizations that bring together students from different fields within the Aalto University.
AMS also holds a seat in the board of Marketing Business School Graduates and the board of International Business School Graduates within HEKO.
We are all about making great friends and new connections. And if you're a student, joining us is free!
Our top priority is to build contacts to the business life so that our students find employment easily and companies can find the top marketing talent within Aalto Marketing Society.
Companies can announce their open job positions through us and directly reach hundreds of marketing students. We also arrange case competitions and excursions in collaboration with companies, as well as career nights.
Furthermore, making sure that marketing students from Aalto are top class marketers, we offer plenty of different training courses and workshops for our members, ranging from data management and coding to photoshop and design.
We are a very active subject club and arrange dozens of events annually.
We have several big events we arrange every year: our Annual Ball (vuosijuhlat), called MARK, is celebrated every spring before Vappu. Every fall we arrange our abroad excursion and explore different company cultures and marketing in some distant country. Our year ends with our grand christmas party arranged together with HEKO, which doubles as the end of our fall meeting.
One of our recurring concepts is our AMS Afterwork Sessions, held roughly twice a month. In these events marketing-minded people gather to have a drink or two and meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Each evening will be hosted by a guest speaker, who will give a short presentation on a topic he or she feels passionate about.
Originally named Acti, AMS was founded in 1999 when marketing and management were split into separate majors at the School of Business. We went through a re-branding in 2016 and changed our name to Aalto Marketing Society.
In 18 years we have managed to create our very own version of both Aalto- and Kylteri-cultures. We have our very own twist on traditional parties such as sitsis and annual balls.
Marketers are cheerful, sharp and outgoing bunch of people. We collaborate actively with other student organizations, both in professional context and in having fun. If you or your organization wants to get to know marketers, hit us up! We think everyone should understand marketing - or at least marketing people, and the best way to do that is to actually hang out with us.
